China’s Gen Z investors are turning fund managers into social media stars

On a fan community page on Chinese social media platform Weibo, hundreds of users have posted comments and pictures, some covered in little red hearts, to express their admiration for a star they affectionately call Kun Kun. “Kun Kun flies bravely, iKun will always follow him; Kun Kun never gets old, and will remain a blue-chip till the end,” some users wrote alongside the picture. “Kun Kun,” whose full name is Zhang Kun, is neither a pop star nor actor. Instead, he is one of China’s most prominent fund managers who oversees around 120 billion yuan ($18.6 billion) in assets at E Fund Management, an established Chinese asset management firm. Xiaomi Mi Watch Exclusive Edition launch delayed, company apologizes

Earlier today (27th December 2019), Xiaomi went on its official Weibo account to share an apology. The show of sincerity was made after the Chinese tech giant stated that it had to delay the launch of the Mi Watch’s Exclusive Edition.

Xiaomi’s Mi Watch Exclusive Edition had an official launch date set in December 2019. However, the company has now said that the launch will be delayed due to certain reasons that include, insufficient stocks and more emphasis on improving the user experience in the UI department.

Reportedly, the delay of the Mi Watch Exclusive Edition will have it see a new launch date which is in February 2020, about two months from now. It gives the smartphone manufacturing company enough time to prepare as this move indicates that it expects a healthy sales number regardless of the fact that only limited units will be shipped.

In the official apology shared on the Chinese microblogging website, the company stated that it regretted the delay; but the smart watch will be available early next year and launch in Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Yuopin and Xiaomi Tmall’s official flagship store simultaneously.
